COLLINGWOOD
Collingwood
2020 PREVIEW
A team that has promised so much but has delivered so little since its AFLW inception, the turn of luck looks to have finally landed at the AFL powerhouse after three years at the bottom end of the AFLW ladder. The Pies made an audacious play in the off-season for arch-rival and Carlton captain, Bri Davey, to make the move and they were successful – but they gave up plenty to secure the dual All Australian.
Davey’s impact at the Holden Centre has already been felt, but the overall development of Collingwood’s list delivered captain Stephanie Chiochi’s Magpies their maiden VFL Premiership with a number of key AFLW listed players putting together strong seasons in the second-tier competition.
Pies fans will be salivating over the return of star utility Chloe Molloy who put the competition on notice with a scintillating finals series in the VFL. The former No.2 draft pick has claims as the best player in the competition when up and running, and the Pies will be hoping to make full use of her talents as they look towards their first finals campaign under new coach Stephen Symonds.
