2020 PREVIEW
What is old is new once more, and the Dees will welcome back Daisy Pearce as club captain in 2020 after taking time away to give birth to her twins last season.
The mercurial on-baller and face of the women’s competition will link back up with guns Kaz Paxman and Elise O’Dea to form arguably the best trio of midfielders in the competition.
The Dees are a highly rated side, but they’ve been marred by injuries over the journey. Lauren Pearce won’t return until midway through the season, but she looms as perhaps the team’s most important player, with her tap work giving the Melbourne midfield brigade first use at just about every stoppage.
Loveable young guns Lily Mithen and Tegan Cunningham are also missing the early parts of the season through injury, which means opportunity is up for grabs at Demon land.
During the off-season, the Dees successfully secured what was a fire sale at the Whitten Oval, grabbing Libby Birch who’ll hold down a key post in defence. The key for the Dees is getting off to a good start given they’ll meet North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, St. Kilda, and Collingwood in their first four games.
