The Storm have confirmed Jahrome Hughes has been cleared of any major damage to his shoulder — but the star halfback could be sidelined for one to two weeks.

Further diagnosis of the full extent of the injury will be revealed in the coming days, but Melbourne officials are confident the 27-year-old won’t spend an extended period off the field.

Hughes was assessed at half-time of the club’s clash against the Titans and Storm coach Craig Bellamy opted against using him in the second stanza.

“Jahrome Hughes will not be risked for the rest of this match, the Storm need to have his injured shoulder looked at,” Fox League sideline reporter Lara Pitt said.

“He’s with the physio in the sheds, the club telling me he simply had no strength in that shoulder, there were concerns he dislocated it in contact but it popped straight back in.”

Bellamy can breathe a sigh of relief after a nightmare 2022 season filled with long-term injuries including George Jennings and Christian Welch.

SHARKS STAR’S UGLY HEAD KNOCK

Sharks star Connor Tracey’s game ended after just 12 minutes on Saturday night after copping a sickening head knock.

Tracey was running the ball out of his own half when Andrew McCullough took his legs and Tariq Sims came over the top.

Sims’ shoulder caught Tracey flush on the jaw the Sharks winger appeared to be unconscious before he hit the ground.

The Dragons enforcer immediately called for Tracey to be helped and Sims looked visibly uncomfortable as he was being treated by medical staff.

The game was held up for more than five minutes as Tracey was placed onto a stretcher and driven off the field.

“Oh, there’s a hit here that is going to get the attention of the bunker and it’s Connor Tracey. That had the concern of the Dragons players as well,” Dan Ginnane said.

“I think he knows he’s about to be punished but also some concern for the player he struck.

“We’re not seeing Connor Tracey again tonight.”

Sims was binned which the commentators deemed extremely fortunate for the 32-year-old leaving the club at the end of the season.

“Some good news on Connor Tracey’s welfare, he’s up and about in the sheds the Sharks have told us, but obviously will not be back tonight,” Fox League sideline reporter Lara Pitt said in the 22nd minute.

RAIDERS COP DOUBLE BLOW

The Raiders have been dealt a double injury blow, with an “innocuous” tackle leaving skipper Joe Tapine in serious pain.

Tapine (ribs) and Ryan Sutton (head knock) both left the game on the stroke of halftime against the Panthers on Saturday night.

“Hold on, Tapine has just clutched at a rib. He’s in pain, he’s in big trouble Tapine, he’s taking big breaths.” Mick Ennis said on Fox League.

“I think he’s gone. (Yep) Tapine is off the field, in big pain... Tapine is not in great shape,” Voss said.

Tapine made it to the sideline before he went down on his knees in pain.

“He has buckled over on the sideline, this is a big moment in Canberra’s season, their form front-rower down on his haunches, it looks like he’s picked up a rib injury.” Ennis said.

“It was innocuous, he just clutches there, something just popped in the collision, maybe a rib cartilage.

Sutton failed his HIA after copping a high shot from James Fisher-Harris who was binned over the incident.

Penrith duo Dylan Edwards and Taylan May both appeared in pain but battled on in the second half.

MANLY VETERAN SIDELINED

Sea Eagles playmaker Kieran Foran suffered a hamstring injury in his side’s clash against the Eels in a brutal blow to the club’s finals chances.

The 32-year-old left the field with seven minutes remaning in the contest and was spotted by Fox League’s Greg Alexander.

“That is not a good picture, Kieren Foran sitting there with an ice pack on his hamstring,” Fox League’s Greg Alexander said.

Manly coach Des Hasler conceded the veteran is unlikely to feature in Round 22.

“He has got a mild hamstring strain, so I don’t think he will make it next week,” Hasler said in the post-match press conference.

As it stands, the Sea Eagles sit four points outside the top eight and need all hands on deck if they want to make a late finals charge.

But now, Hasler will need to look elsewhere, potentially handing young gun Josh Schuster a chance to return at five-eighth.

Meanwhile, Fox League’s Lara Pitt confirmed Titans star Aaron Booth will be sidelined for an extended period after his knee dislocated.

X-rays revealed Booth suffered a small break in his leg, with scans tomorrow expected to show an ACL, MCL and PCL rupture.
